although none of the members of Kapakahi do not have
Hawaiian “ethnic” blood, the real Hawaiians would be so honored that a band was using a Hawaiian name. Based on my real life experience of living and working with Hawaiians, they will be honored that a band uses a Hawaiian name.

I understand the change of name as a Marketing/Business sense and I do hope that the new name would be more profitable, but do not use the change name as if you have offended the Hawaiians. Imagine the Massachusetts-based company called “wikipedia”. I was proud that they used a Hawaiian word wiki that means “quick”. I am sure ethnic Hawaiians are happy their word is being used for a good way.
